The second ancient capital of Sri Lanka. It is same with Anuradhapura ancient city because it is over 1500 years old. Polonnaruwa also a sacred city where found many pagodas in here which kept Lord Buddha Relics. Many people worship the great city. After the invasion to Anuradhapura, King Wijayabha has been set up the kingdom in here. Also, Anuradhapura became crowd less. Anyhow Polonnaruwa also a great symbol that represents the historic and proud of Sri Lanka. Everything has been made by wooden and stone. Still stone made giant structures and foundations remaining in here. One of the great creation is Thiwanka Image house, where you find truly amazing and tremendous paintings. Those have been made by Ceylonese but there is not clear evidence about the painter. Anyhow this was the finest creation of ancient people. It has been made for worship purpose. Not even that Watadageya another truly amazing creation done by the people. There are four Lord Buddha statues were kept in here and covered by a roof. The Buddha statues were made by stone and well carved all expressions. There are many large reservoirs locates in Polonnaruwa and it is truly the best place to observe about historical facts of Sri Lanka.
